Blueberry Manager – CLOSED

Our client that activates in Agribusiness sector – Farming, is looking for a Blueberry Manager to be located in a farm near Lugoj, in Timis County, Romania.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Grows a sustainable and profitable blueberry crop.
  • Ensures that production practices are consistent with food safety regulations and guidelines and provides ongoing training and education to appropriate coworkers.
  • In coordination with other management staff, ensures that the blueberry production is in compliance with relevant certification requirements.
  • Assists in establishing efficient and effective management and production procedures for blueberries.
  • Monitors and executes tasks within the parameters of the budget plan for the current and ongoing years that encompasses agronomic, personnel and equipment planning processes for the blueberry crop operations, in coordination with the Production Manager, and Project Site Manager.
  • Supervises assigned field operations, which may include planting, field establishment and maintenance, pest scouting and pesticide applications, weed control and pruning. Develops and maintains accurate maps for field plantings and for each production field.
  • Managing through the Production Manager, specific functions including irrigation, fertility, preventative pest spray programs, and maintenance operations to maximize production profitability.
  • In coordination with the Production Manager, oversees of crew operations during pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest activities. This includes oversight of picking crews, general field laborers, truck drivers and forklift operators.
  • Develops, implements and actively participates in safety training program that will enable employees to perform all applicable job functions safely.
  • Represents the client operations at seminars, meetings, and other designated functions.
  • Provides direct supervision over staff to include discretionary authority to determine methods of work; plan, assign and direct the work; in coordination with human resources and company policy, recommend personnel actions (promotions, salary and wage adjustments, demotions, discipline, discharge, etc.); administer routine performance appraisals; and interview/select employees. Emphasis is to be placed on maintaining staffing at the appropriate levels to operate at peak efficiency and in developing continuity in key positions.
  • National and International commercial activities, along with the Regional Manager, in order to attract new costumers.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Agronomy or Production Management desired
  • A minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible experience working in the fruit industry (berry sector).
  • Experience in coordinating people and management of their daily activity.
  • A strong understanding of plant nutrition, disease, and pests, including their control.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written English and working with a computer.
  • Knowledge and skill in blueberry / berry production.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and procedures for personnel recruitment, selection, training, and labor relations.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing crop output.
  • Knowledge of farm equipment and machinery and the ability to operate and to effectively train others in the safe operation of such.
  • Skill and ability to motivate develop and direct people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
  • Skill and ability to evaluate systems – identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the company.
  • Skill and ability to communicate and provide information to Regional Manager by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person.
  • Skill and ability to communicate with persons outside the organization, representing the farm to customers, the public and other external sources, by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person.
  • Skill and ability to work independently using effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Clean and valid Driving license
