Senior Buyer – CLOSED

Turda, Cluj county

For one of our clients, a multinational automotive company, we are currently looking for Senior Buyer to be located in Turda, Cluj County, Romania.

 

Reporting to: Group Director Purchasing

Job Description:

  • Responsible to identify, implement and maintain for the assigned key commodities (BOM & Non-BOM) a world class Supply Base that delivers the highest quality and service performance, top technology standards and fully customer oriented at the lowest total cost
  • Maximize performance of the purchasing deliverables on new projects and developments to meet the internal and external customer satisfaction

 

Main Tasks:

  • Develop, implement and maintain commodity strategies and deliver to assigned goals and objectives
  • Define and implement the supplier panel by product category (Approved Vendor List – AVL) by commodity and work for continuous improvement with the different suppliers
  • Prepare and lead sourcing processes to meet quality, delivery and technology goals at the lowest total cost
  • Act as a liaison with site Supply Chain management and Quality Management to assure that any Supplier sourced in new projects will meet Manufacturing, cost service and quality goals
  • Negotiate and implement Contractual frame agreements with strategic suppliers
  • Issue requests for proposals/ quotes (RFI’s / RFQ’s) and select best source consistent with cost, quality and delivery requirements
  • Lead recurrent price negotiations with all suppliers, negotiating and managing long term pricing agreement on critical commodities
  • Support Make/ Buy processes
  • Participate in cross-functional project teams, coordinate and execute the project related purchasing activities
  • Maintain relationship with strategic suppliers to ensure their commitment to MMM overall goals and strategies
  • Initiate, promote and sponsor value analysis programs, aligned with automotive industry best practices – Lean tool kit, with the strategic suppliers
  • Develop and support new suppliers and technologies and deploy knowledge throughout the organization
  • Monitor supplier performance by ensuring that product and / or service is delivered as scheduled and meets specifications; maintaining appropriate files and records of meeting with suppliers to ensure company requirement are met and that supplier is aware of their performance
  • Assist internal and external customers by interpreting laws, policies, codes and regulations pertaining to purchasing; answer inquiries both orally and in writing concerning purchasing operations
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing other job related tasks as needed; enabling other workers to achieve their job objectives.

 

Education & Experience:

  • BA or BS in Materials Management, Procurement, Business Administration, Operations Planning or a related field; MBA, CPM or APICS certification desirable
  • 5+ years of related procurement experience including purchasing, inventory control, contract negotiation, supply management, supplier relationships, basics of cost accounting and tracking budget expenses
  • Knowledge of MRP processes
  • Contract manufacturing experience beneficial
  • Work experience in automotive manufacturing environment beneficial
  • Working knowledge of the legal aspects of procurement and contract law
  • Knowledge of import freight movement
