For a leading supplier of technology solutions, we are looking for a General Manager to lead the company’s engineering team in Timisoara.
Job Purpose:
- To lead the engineering team in Timisoara to be a motivated, productive, fully integrated part of the worldwide group/ team
- To be the General Manager and leader of the Timisoara office, ensuring strong communication between Timisoara and the headquarters, and delivering an effective well-managed office, complying with all location legislation, and group processes
- As the organisation matures and scales, we are looking to move the focus of the team from a start-up mode, to one of a more process oriented mature organisation
Key Responsibilities & Tasks:
- To manage resources and skills across the engineers team in Timisoara
- To be the clear and visible leader of the engineering team, ensuring that strategies and priorities are clearly aligned between the HQ and Romanian organisations
- To motivate staff and provide technical direction and guidance
- Responsible for building and maintaining a world class engineering team
- Accountable for the predictable and on-time delivery of NPI commitments
- Ensuring that we maintain our focus on delivering high quality software releases
- To enhance our development processes to ensure that we are using best demonstrated practises within our software development and test teams
- To develop and deliver long term objectives and performance standards for the Romanian engineering team
- To work with the product marketing team to deliver an agreed roadmap for our products
Key attributes of the successful candidate:
- Broad experience of leading software and testing teams, spanning embedded software development and mobile Application development
- Strong technical skills to be able to guide and mentor the engineering team
- High-energy, “get things done” person with a proven track record of building strong delivery focussed engineering teams
- Strong individual, capable of formulating strategies, making compelling arguments in support of them, and executing the agreed strategies
- Capable or working at all levels in the organisation, up to and including the Senior Management team
- Proven problem solver. Able to rationally examine problems, identify solutions, and execute them
- Broad understanding of modern software technologies and development processes spanning real time embedded, and mobile applications
- Fast learner, able to come up to speed rapidly on our business, products, technologies and processes
- Excellent team building skills, able to build a cohesive, motivated team
- Excellent team player, who can build strong relationships with peers in the Engineering and Commercial teams
- Experience of the legal and financial aspects of running an engineering organisation in Romania
- Fluent in spoken and written Romanian and English
Qualifications and experience:
- Good engineering degree or equivalent
- At least 15 years’ experience in software development leadership
- Recent hands-on software development experience
- Experience of developing high volume, low cost products
- Experience of developing software to very short, time-critical schedules
