For one of our clients, a global agriculture and forest company, we are currently looking for a Farm Manager to lead their operations in Latvia.

Their Latvian farm manages 2,200 ha of owned and leased arable area, where they grow winter crops – wheat, canola and rye as well as spring crops – barley and peas. Farm is located in Dobele region, about 1 hour drive from Riga.

Responsibilities

• Coordinating and leading employees
• Creating schedules for planting, crop input applications, equipment readiness and harvesting
• Directing harvest operations and conducting off-season activities
• Ensuring that farm activities comply with government regulations
• Maintaining a knowledge of pests, diseases, and understanding how to avoid and or treat them
• Applying health and safety standards across the farm
• Compiling records on the crops

Requirements

• English – advanced level
• Experience as Farm Manager, Farm Manager Assistant or Agronomist for at least 3 years
• Experience in preparing Fertilizer, Chemical plans and application for EU subventions
• Understanding of agricultural market in the region and worldwide
• Ability to lead people
• Car and agricultural machinery driver licences
• Business management programs, MS Navision Dynamics knowledge would be an advantage
• Willing to travel abroad
